2018 Zhangjiajie Winter Themed Activities for Tourists

Zhangjiajie has launched a series of winter themed activities for tourists that will be held during December 1, 2017 to March 2, 2018.

1.First China (Zhangjiajie) Parent-child Tourism Festival

Duration: December 25, 2017-March 2, 2018

Venue: all scenic spots in Zhangjiajie

Events: traditional snacks making; children's orienteering; calling for children’s activities.

Parent-child travel routes will be introduced.

2.First China (Zhangjiajie) Creative Video Contest

Duration: December 1, 2017-March 2, 2018

Venue: all scenic spots and tourism related enterprises in Zhangjiajie

Events: creative video that introduces Zhangjiajie’s tourism and values of tourism will be called for from all over the country (Within 3 minutes), and bonus will be given to winners.

3.First China (Wuling Mountain Area) Motorhome Tourism Exhibition

Duration: January 5-8, 2018

Venue: Zhangjiajie Civil Square

Events: exhibitions of motorhomes and tourist attractions in Wuling Mountain Area will be held; motorhome travel route in the area will be introduced; launching ceremony of motorhome trip & motorhome travel route from Zhangjiajie to Enshi will be held.

4.First China (Zhangjiajie) International Poetry Tourism Festival

Time: December 2017

Venue: Zhangjiajie College, Jishou University

Events: China (Zhangjiajie) International Poetry Alliance will be officially set up; tourism and poetry forums will be held; meetings between renowned tourism poets and fans will be arranged; and tourism poem readings will be scheduled.

5.Gannian Festival Celebrations of Tujia Minority

Duration: January 1-March 2, 2018

Venue: all scenic spots in Zhangjiajie

Events: enjoying snowy scenery, experiencing folk customs, doing Spring Festival shopping, savoring local delicacies, watching art performances, enjoying Gannian festival, guessing lantern riddles, and celebrating Lantern Festival.

Note: Gannian is the Lunar New Year celebration of Tujia people and is celebrated one day before the Lunar New Year celebration of the Han people.

6.Winter Swimming and Hot Spring

Duration: December 22, 2017-March 2, 2018

Venue: Wanfu Hot Spring Resort; Jiangya Hot Spring Resort

Events: winter swimming in the Lishui River will be organized and one thousand people will be expected to attend; after the swimming, they will be arranged to take a hot spring bath, do Spring Festival shopping, and taste local delicacies.

7.Zhangjiajie-Jishou-Huaihua Tourism Promotion

Duration: November-December 2017

Venue: Changsha; Guangzhou

Events: Zhangjiajie City, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, and Huaihua City join hands with media groups to promote tourism resources in Changsha and Guangzhou.

8.Second China (Zhangjiajie) Wuling Bonsai & Stone Appreciation Tourism Expo

Time: December 2017 (tentative)

Venue: Zhangjiajie College, Jishou University

Contents: Wuling culture-themed bonsai exhibition and stone appreciation expo will be held. During the period, tourists may enjoy discounts on buying bonsais once they show Zhangjiajie scenic area tickets. A lottery will also be arranged for tourists to win Zhangjiajie scenic area tickets and local specialties.
