Pig blood porridge is a special food for tujia people. With the special significance, tujia people use it for ancestor worship and other specific occasion.
Every year in March, it is the birthday of “heavenly Kings”. Tujia people will sacrifice to kill a pig. When coming to the temple, they will boil pig blood porridge before god. Everyone will drink a bowl of pig blood porridge.
In addition, in New Year’s day, people also boil pig blood porridge to worship ancestor.
