The Charm of Western Hunan

The show, Named The Charm of Western Hunan (or the Charm of Xiangxi), is a royal performance combining young males’ professions of love -Climbing Suspended Buildings, the expression of missing parents before marriage -Crying before Marriage, the method of transporting deceased soldiers -Corpses Control, etc. based on the forms of dancing, singing, drama and so on. The show sheds light on not only the Tujia and Miao Ethnic Groups which are the main two nationalities among local dwellers, but also the Dong Nationality as well. Different from the Love Story of a Woodman and a Fox Fairy and Zhangjiajie in the Misty Drizzle, it focuses more on the cultures and customs of the indigenous minorities instead of legendary love stories. So it is regarded as a valuable treasure of the Western Hunan and enjoys its high reputation around the continent of China, Hong Kong, South Korean, Japan and other countries in the Southeast Asia.

It is performed every day in The Charm of Western Hunan Theatre (the Charm of Xiangxi Theater) which has the capacity of 2,800 people and is located in the right access of Wulingyuan District, Zhangjiejie, full of hotels and restaurants. Since only 33 km from the city centre, it is very convenient to get there. You will witness the success of the show and figure out that it’s more than just a show.
