Generally, Fenghuang Miao martial art has a long history. Especially Chiyou boxing in Miao boxing originated from Chi-you era.

Fenghuang Miao martial art shares these characteristics: powerful momentum, steady footwork, changeable tactics, strong strength and resolute movement.

There are mainly two kinds in Miao martial art: One is unarmed and another is armed with instruments. Unarmed one is also called Miao boxing, including five steps. The one armed with instruments has three kinds: hard instrument, soft instrument and hidden weapons. Sticks and swords are usually seen in hard instruments. Soft instruments usually have scourges and so on. And hidden weapons mainly have throwing knives etc.

Miao people pay special attention to martial virtue in the process of teaching martial art. Of all ages, Miao women and men love learning martial art in order to build their bodies. Teachers always ask their apprentices to promise to obey rules left by predecessors before teaching them skills.
